Oh Crap Hey

Remember to keep in touch with the people who matter.

Life gets busy. Friends and family slip to the bottom of the pile. Oh Crap Hey helps you catch yourself before too much time goes by without reaching out to those you care about.

Add the people you want to stay close to — friends, family, old colleagues, the person you keep meaning to text back — and Oh Crap Hey shows you, at a glance, who you've been neglecting the longest. Log a quick “I reached out” with a swipe, or long-press to message, call, or email directly from the app and have it logged automatically. Jot a note about what you talked about so you remember next time. Snooze contacts you're intentionally taking a break from.

Oh Crap Hey is intentionally simple. There's no social network, no feed, no notifications. Your data stays on your device. It's just you, a list of the people who matter, and a gentle reminder that it's been a while.

Features

Tracking

  • Contacts sorted by how long it's been, with the most-overdue on top; never-contacted entries appear first
  • Color-coded status: green (< 7 days), orange (7–30 days), red (30+ days or never)
  • Snooze a contact for days, weeks, or months; snoozed contacts appear greyed out at the bottom, sorted by return date
  • Attach a short note to the most recent reach-out, with a 5,000-character limit

Interaction

  • Swipe right: full swipe logs a reach-out as “now”; partial swipe reveals Now and Pick Date buttons
  • Swipe left: reveals Snooze and Delete (with confirmation)
  • Long-press: context menu with Message, Call, and Email actions that open the native app and log the reach-out in one step
  • Note indicator on rows with a saved note — tap to view, copy, or clear

System Integration

  • Home screen widget in small, medium, and large sizes; automatically excludes snoozed contacts
  • Siri and Shortcuts: Add Contact and Log Contact intents with an optional date and an optional note
  • Native contact picker — pick from the system contacts database without the app needing contacts permission upfront

Quality

  • Guided onboarding on first launch
  • Accessible by default: VoiceOver, Voice Control, Dynamic Type, Reduce Motion, Differentiate Without Color
  • Localized in English, French, German, Italian, Spanish, Japanese, and Korean
  • Privacy-first: all data is stored locally; no account, no analytics, no network calls

Privacy Policy

Oh Crap Hey stores all data on your device. There is no account, no cloud sync, no analytics, and no network activity. The app reads your device contacts (with your permission) to let you pick who to track and to surface phone numbers and email addresses for the long-press actions — it never transmits any of that information anywhere.

Terms of Service

Oh Crap Hey is provided as-is, without warranty of any kind. Use of the app is at your own risk. These terms may be updated from time to time; continued use of the app constitutes acceptance of any changes.
